Garlic Prawns

One very lazy Sunday afternoon we found ourselves hungry and an empty ref except for a kilo of prawns my hubby bought from a friend who just harvested from their prawn farm over the last week.  Already contemplating to get the Shakey's Delivery menu for some pizza when I felt the urge to try making Garlic Prawns.  And here it is...

My hubby loved it! It turned out pretty good... yummy and very tasty... just like the one served in the Dampa restaurants.

Cooking this is quite simple, will only take you about 10-20 mins.  The ingredients readily available in your pantry.  All you need are:

  • 1 kilo prawns
  • Lots of garlic ( I used 2 bulbs but you can go crazy more )  finely chopped
  • 500 ml lemon soda ( I used Sprite )
  • 150 grams butter ( about 1 and 1/2 stick)
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 tsp oyster sauce for added taste
In a warm wok melt butter and saute chopped garlic.  Let the garlic brown for a few minutes.  Keep the fire low to avoid burning butter and garlic.  I added a bit of salt and pepper to season.  When garlic is brown add in the Prawns.  Crank the heat to medium and cook prawns until orange which happens fairly quick.  Pour the lemon soda and at high heat bring to boil. Once boiling, lower heat to medium and let simmer for about 10-15mins or until half of the liquid has evaporated.  Finally add the oyster sauce and mix.  Then serve with hot plain or fried rice!! Yummy!!
